- Symbolism: The unit's service as coast artillery
is shown by the moound and the water, symbolic of Pacific service
in World War II. Service in France in World War I is shown by
the wavy blue lines and trees for the Meuse-Argonne campaign.
The white rock, from the arms of St. Mihiel, stands for that
campaign. The triangular rock with goad starts simulates the
triangle on the Philippine presidential seal and denotes the
Phillippine Presidential Unit Citation. The trees, suggested
by the arms of San Diego, and the water designates the units
home of California
