- Symbolism: The shield of the coat of arms
for the 224th Infantry Regiment, differenced vy a blue border,
is used to indicate the descent of the 161st Armored Infantry
Battalion from the 3d Battalion of that organization. In the
designing of the coat of arms of the 224th Infantry Regiment,
the basic design of the shield of the coat of arms of the 185th
Infantry Regiment, in reverse colors with the carabao head added
to symbolize service in the Phillipine Islands during World War
II, was used to indicate descent from the latter organization.
The cheveron and fleur-de-lis on the canton indicate World War
I service of the units from shich the 185th Infantry Regiment
