Symbolism: The two arrows symbolize the assault landings of the Luzon and Southern Philippines campaigns by some elements of the former organization, the 40th Medical Battalion. The taeguk, from the flag of Korea, represents Korean service by predecessor unit. The Greek cross is a symbol of aid and assistance, The gold sun and blue background refer to California, the Golden State and the Pacific Ocean. Maroon is for the Medical Corps, to which the former unit was assigned.
