The museum uses contemporary and modern works of art to interpret historical events in the state's and nation's past. This includes original works of art such as California Military History by Verlyn Dean Gleisberg and Bataan Jungle, by Sylvester Mateo. The collection also includes original and reproduced sculptures. These works can be found at the main museum in Sacramento, and also at the several installations of the California National Guard throughout the state.
