- Camp Bishop Creek
-
- A temporary post, it
was established sometime in 1863 near present Bishop, Inyo County.
It was probably named for Samuel A. Bishop, a well known rancher
who came to California in 1849, served as an officer in the
Mariposa Battalion in 1851, and resided in Owen's
Valley from 1860 to 1863.
