Camp Crane

Situated in Crane Valley (Discovered in 1848 and named for the area's wild cranes), Camp Crane was most probably established as a temporary post on 31 July 1852 by troops from Fort Miller north of Fresno. In 1901 Crane Valley Reservoir, enlarged by the waters backed up by the Bass Lake Dam constructed in 1909, engulfed the site Of Camp Crane.
