- Situated in Crane Valley (Discovered in
1848 and named for the area's wild cranes), Camp Crane was most
probably established as a temporary post on 31 July 1852 by troops
from Fort Miller north of Fresno.
In 1901 Crane Valley Reservoir, enlarged by the waters backed
up by the Bass Lake Dam constructed in 1909, engulfed the site
Of Camp Crane.
