Historic California Posts:
Camp Lippitt

Established on January 10, 1862, this Short lived post was located at Bucksport, now a part of the city of Eureka in Humboldt County. Established in compliance with the orders of Colonel Francis l. Lippitt, cornmanding the District of Humboldt, for whom the camp was named, it was garrisoned by the 2nd California Infantry, California Volunteers, Captain Douglas cornmanding. The post, set up because of the lack of adequate facilities at Fort Humboldt to accommodate the augmented command, consisted entirely of rented buildings and lasted for only two months
