Elk Camp

Sometime in May 1862 the people in the small settlement ol Elk Camp, about 15 miles northeast of Camp Anderson in Humboldt County, urgently requested government military protection. Sparse archival records and other sources indicate that a temporary post, garrisoned from Camp Anderson, was probably established within the settlement.
