Fort Benton

Apparently occupied for a short period in 1849, this post was located just cross the California line from Mineral, Nevada, north off Bishop. Mono County. The town is known as Benson, Benton's Hot Springs, or Benton's Station, the latter from the nearby location of a depot for the Carson and Colorado Railroad during tile 1880's
