a short period in 1849, this post was located just cross the
California line from Mineral, Nevada, north off Bishop. Mono
County. The town is known as Benson, Benton's Hot Springs, or
Benton's Station, the latter from the nearby location of a depot
for the Carson and Colorado Railroad during tile 1880's
