LOCATION: The site is located in Merced County approximately 18 miles southwest of the city of Merced, California

SITE HISTORY: In 1943 the U.S. Government acquired 640 acres in fee on which an auxiliary airfield was developed for flight training. Army improvements included a stagehouse, crash truck shelter, latrine, landing mat. fencing, and runways. The site was used as an auxiliary field for the Army Air Force Basic Flight Training School based at Merced Army Air
