Redoubt Bitter Springs

Located on the Salt Lake Road in the Mojave Desert, San Bernardino County, this redoubt was a sub-post of Camp Cady, established by Major (later Major General) James Carleton, who waged a campaign against tile Paiutes and Shoshones in the early 1860s. It is 20 miles west northwest of Baker on the Fort Irwin Military Reservation.
