Captain E. H. Conklin, Company 32, Santa Maria, reports that
his company is not in the very best of condition just at the
present time, for the reason that a short time ago a letter was
written to the Adjutant-General of our State in reference to
prospects of getting arms and equipment. The reply was very discouraging,
and many of the boys who had spent a great deal of time dropped
out, inviting until such time as our State officials will give
them the recognition that their work is entitled to. Capt. Conklin
further stated that "I am willing to do anything for the
betterment of conditions, and I am holding the men together waiting
for favorable decision from the powers that be."
